CARE CIRCLES

Men, Communities and the Transformation of Care

2026–2028 (planned) Coordinator

About the project

A 24-month transnational project being submitted to the European Commission under Priority 1: Work–life balance and caring responsibilities. CARE CIRCLES addresses the transformation of masculinities and the redistribution of caring responsibilities in European communities.

The project starts from the premise that gender equality requires men’s active involvement in care. Through community circles for reflection and action, CARE CIRCLES aims to create safe spaces where men from different backgrounds can explore and transform their relationship with care.

Objectives

  • Create a community circle model for reflection on masculinities and care
  • Develop training materials for facilitators of men’s groups
  • Implement pilot programmes in communities across several European countries
  • Generate policy recommendations on work–life balance and shared caring responsibilities

Current status

The project is being submitted to the European Commission under CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values). A decision is expected during 2026.
